Earlier this year Tanya was requested as an actor to participate in script development for an intended stage play, Big Gold Mountain, to utilise her Chinese background and understanding of being mixed.
Last month she was again called upon to be a part of the cast and perform the revised script at PICA for the Chinese Ambassador of Australia, who flew in from Canberra to watch it. Other stakeholders from the Chinese community also came to view the performance reading.
The performance was deemed a success and there was plenty of positive feedback to all performers. Credit to the writer, Russell Roberts, for presenting a beautiful and important piece of Australia’s history from the Chinese point of view. Director John Atkins from Stages W.A. was also fantastic and it was a privilege for Tanya to be a part of something wonderful during its early stages.
Big Gold Mountain will be developed further and hopes to tour through all major Australian cities and possibly overseas as well. Stay tuned!
