W A L L P A P E R

Technically, nothing happened. Right?

Synopsis: Dionne lets a friend crash on her couch after a night of drinking. She later wakes to find him standing over her in bed.

W A L L P A P E R is a film about women having to constantly face their own mortality and the trauma men can cause, even unintentionally. Dionne is an independent young woman, living alone and regularly offers her couch up for friends to sleep on, whenever they need. Shawn, a goofy and fun-loving friend of Dionne’s, has taken her up on this offer more than once. During one of these occasions, Dionne later wakes to Shawn looming over her, incoherently intoxicated. Once her sanctuary and safe space, Dionne’s room is instantly transformed into a holding cell where she is stuck in harm’s way.

The film pivots around this brief encounter – a terrifying betrayal by a trusted friend, who will possibly have no recollection of the fear he has instilled. After he leaves, Dionne retreats back into her room, where her once friendly offering is now forever branded as a mistake.

International Women's Day 2015 – Presenting to students at Morley Senior High School

This morning Tanya journeyed back to her old school, Morley Senior High School, where she delivered a motivational speech to inspire current students in the name of International Women's Day 2015, which is 8 March, 2015.

The theme this year is 'Make it Happen'.

Her high school dance teacher, Kerry Hinkley, recommended her to the event organiser, Ivana Gaglia, to talk about her achievements and what anyone can accomplish with hard work.

β€œI could see all of the students were really tuned into her. We were all impressed with how down to earth and inspiring her presentation was!”
Ivana Gaglia, Technology & Enterprise, Morley Senior High School

It was a really fulfilling morning. She felt very privileged to be asked to speak at her old high school, catch up with some of her teachers and received great feedback from staff and students about her presentation.

An impressive Directorial Debut

When Tanya planned on directing some of her own material, she certainly didn't plan on her first creation being a TV Commercial to represent the City of Perth's Winter Arts Festival 2014!

It was a huge honour being asked by Producer Damien Blythe to come up with a concept and  then write, choreograph, teach, direct and perform in the dance-based commercial within just two weeks!

Despite it being a challenging task Tanya worked with a fantastic crew, including Director of Photography Michael McDermott from Transvision, to pull off a detailed and original piece of work. The commercial screened on prime time television station, Channel 7, across Western Australia throughout June and July, returning lots of positive feedback.

The opportunity to create something of her own was an exhilirating whirlwind and she would do it all over again!
